All Voices: A MultiGenerational Choir
led by Emilia Kister
All Voices: A MultiGenerational Choir is a vocal ensemble open to persons of any level of vocal ability who want to experience music making in a community. All Voices encourages friends and family of all ages to join together for a multi-generational music experience.
“Thank you for the humor and energy you brought to the rehearsals. It was truly a memorable experience for us to do something like this. In a time when I feel like all I’m doing is driving the kids to their activities and somehow trying to squeeze in time for my own, this was a refreshing change to do something together that we all loved. We will be back! ”
“... coming back to singing at 72 years old made me realize how much I missed this. It is a great feeling that one can only appreciate when one does it. ... All these diverse people, the kids, the old folks like me, and everyone in between, all singing together in front of their families and friends form such a lovely feeling of inclusion and community, that is so cool!”
“I’ve been reflecting on what a special 10 weeks this has been for [child’s name] and me. I’m so grateful you’ve cultivated such a loving community and welcomed us into it. This was my first time singing since leaving my career as a performer six years ago, and getting to do it alongside [child’s name] made it surreal in the best way. She loved every bit of it and immediately asked when we would get to do it again.”

Journaling Club, 5:00-5:30pm
We are adding a *free of charge* and *optional* Journaling Club with live music at the end of our weekly rehearsals. "All Voices" will rehearse from 3:30-5pm, then, we'll have a weekly doodle & writing prompt on the screen and our rehearsal musicians will start a live music segment. We will journal and/or doodle together until 5:30pm. All members of “All Voices” are welcome to take part in the Journaling Club, free of any extra charge.
Attendance:
All Voices doesn't have an attendance policy, but please try to come as often as you can to get the most out of the experience. Your presence greatly benefits the work of our ensemble.
What to Expect:
Rehearsals start by breathing and warming up our voices and bodies. We continue by working on songs with the lyrics projected and the notes being taught by ear. When we add harmonies, we break out into "Sectionals" and learn the parts separately. We also try to make time to listen to recordings, do movement activities and laugh. All rehearsals are accompanied by a live band!
Repertoire:
All Voices sings a little of everything! Musical Theatre, Pop, Jazz, Folk, Country, Children's Classics, and songs in different languages. Suggestions welcome!
Requirements:
Our rehearsals are 1.5 hours and are typically best for children 5+ and those who are getting comfortable with reading. Please email with specific questions. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. No musical knowledge required.
Band & Harmonies
We rehearse with a live band, made up of students and professors from the University of Washington, School of Music
We sing in three-part harmony, for most of the songs. Participants self-select their vocal parts i.e. melody, high harmony and low harmony

“Thank you so much for a wonderful choir session. Both me and the girls had a great time. They are SO excited about the choir! I have been singing the songs all week and they have brightened up my days.”
