Birthday KISTER DAY KAMP:

January 15, 2024

@Roaring Mouse Creative Arts Studio

What: We started our day with a morning doodle to the Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach. We discussed the concept of theme and variations (Goldberg Variations consist of an aria and 30 variations!) and examined the variations in the doodles that we created. Then, we began exploration with lego printing on big white paper and read a book called Curve & Flow about the architect Paul R. Williams. After lunch and play time in the park, we created lego print postcards, and colored them in with oil pastels. It was an awesome day!

When: Monday, January 15th, 2024 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)

Where: Roaring Mouse Creative Arts Studio

Cozy KISTER DAY KAMP:

November 20 & 21, 2023

@Home in Seattle

When: Monday and Tuesday, November 20&21 from 9-3pm

What: Monday Nov. 21 was called “Themes of Blue”. We studied the artist Miles Davis and listened to his album “Kind of Blue”. Then, we created paper collages, inspired by the album and the color blue.

Tuesday, Nov. 22 was called “Nocturnes & Lanterns”. We studies the composer Frederic Chopin and learned about his piano pieces called nocturnes. Then, we created papier-mâché lanterns! *Kids were each given fairy lights and string to complete the projects at home, once the papier-mâché dries. I can’t wait to see pictures of the final product, I will add them to this album.

Summer 2023: Kamp KISTER

@Carkeek Park

Music: We are very lucky to welcome some of my former alumni students to perform for our camp. We will have one musical alumni per day perform in the afternoon. The alumni have chosen a piece that they will perform, and I am creating custom lessons about their chosen pieces. We will study their music in the morning, and will hear it live in the afternoon!

Art Activities: Campers will be provided a journal and art supplies. Art activities will connect with the musical selection of the day.

Hikes: Our hikes will all be in Carkeek Park and should not be too challenging, but some uphills are to be expected.
